The short of it
PumpDepth connects households on private wells with independent contractors, and is operated by NXTA Flow. It pulls no pumps and tests no water, and it covers states rather than towns because well characteristics do not follow town lines.
What PumpDepth does
The service is a routing one. A household on a private well tells us what the system is doing, and we put the call to an independent contractor who works on well pumps and pressure systems. We carry out no work and sell no equipment.
Who pays for this
The contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call. Homeowners are never charged anything, and we do not set or see the price you are quoted.
The source of the well figures
The population figures on every state page are the USGS 2015 county-level water use release, aggregated to states. The maintenance guidance is Penn State Extension. Both are named and linked on the pages that use them.
We do not publish a service life for a pump or a tank, because the figures in circulation for those have no methodology behind them.

Credentials
Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands. We do not vouch for anyone; each state page sets out who issues the license there and where to look it up.
On a well, nobody else is going to notice it failing.If the pressure has gone or the pump is cycling, that is worth a call today rather than next week. We route to contractors who work on wells specifically and cover your area, matched on the ZIP code you give, and you are never charged. Nor does it have to be the well; any plumbing work is routed the same way.
